Make your own perfume with Formula Fragrances
Make your own perfume by combining two Formula Fragrances scents in one bottle. Choose any two different fragrances from the current range, adjust their balance in 10% steps and select 30ml, 50ml or 100ml. Your choices are saved with the order so our Brighton team knows exactly which combination to prepare.
The builder is designed around the fragrances already available on our website. You are not choosing individual raw ingredients or starting from an empty laboratory formula. You are creating a personal blend from two finished Formula Fragrances scents, with one fragrance able to lead while the other adds a different character.

Make your own perfume in 3 easy steps
1. Choose two different fragrances
Begin with one scent you already enjoy, then select a second fragrance that brings another direction. You can combine any two different scents from the range. If you need a starting point, browse all perfumes and compare the top, middle and base notes shown on each product page.
For example, Wolf of Wall St. opens with bergamot before aromatic spice, lavender, vanilla and amberwood. Cotton Skin takes a different route through citrus, white peach, white florals, soft woods and musk. These examples show why reading both product descriptions is useful before you create a blend.
2. Set the balance in 10% steps
A 50/50 blend gives both fragrances an equal share. Choose 60/40, 70/30, 80/20 or 90/10 when you want one scent to make up more of the bottle. The minimum is 10% of either fragrance, allowing the balance to move as far as 90/10.
The percentage controls the measured blend, but it cannot promise exactly how strong every note will smell. Fragrance materials develop differently, and a smaller share of a powerful scent may still be noticeable. Review the notes, decide which fragrance you want to lead and use the percentages as a clear guide for our team.
3. Pick your bottle size and check the order
Select 30ml for £24, 50ml for £36 or 100ml for £48. The price follows the bottle size. Before adding the blend to your bag, check both fragrance names, the two percentages, the size and the displayed price. The order records those details together so the chosen combination is clear when it is prepared.
When you make your own perfume online, that final review matters. If the two scent names are the same, the builder will ask you to choose two different fragrances. If you want one scent on its own, open its individual product page and choose the required bottle size there.
Choose a direction for your personal perfume blend
Fragrance families can make a large collection easier to explore. The Perfume Society’s introduction to fragrance families explains how families group scents by their dominant character. On Formula Fragrances, you can explore six practical starting points:
- Woody and spicy perfumes for woods, aromatics and spice-led profiles.
- Floral and fruity perfumes for flower, fruit and soft musk combinations.
- Oud and bakhour perfumes for deeper oud-led and aromatic profiles.
- Amber, tobacco and resin perfumes for warm, smoky or resinous directions.
- Citrus, fresh and aquatic perfumes for brighter and cleaner openings.
- Vanilla and gourmand perfumes for sweeter, creamy or dessert-like notes.
When you make your own perfume, a family name is a browsing guide rather than a guarantee that two products will behave in the same way. Read the individual descriptions and think about contrast as well as similarity. You might choose two related profiles, or use a brighter fragrance to sit alongside a warmer one.
How to compare two scents before blending
Before you make your own perfume, open both product pages in separate tabs and read beyond the opening notes. The middle and base often shape how a fragrance settles, so compare the whole structure. Look for a shared note when you want a connected direction, or compare contrasting families when you want each scent to contribute something different.
Then decide which fragrance should lead. Start with 60/40 if you want a small emphasis, or move further towards 70/30, 80/20 or 90/10 for a clearer measured difference. There is no required pairing and no universal “best” ratio. The useful choice is the one that reflects the two products and the balance you want our team to prepare.
Real Formula Fragrances scents to explore
Iso E Super is a Formula creation built around a woody musk profile with cedarwood, amber woods and white musk. Brown Sugar combines vanilla orchid, jasmine, brown sugar, tonka bean, amber, patchouli and soft woods. Blue Oud moves from citrus and pear through orange blossom to oud, modern woods and musk.
These are examples from the live catalogue, not prescribed pairings. The builder lets you make your own perfume from the two scents that interest you. Open each product page, compare the notes and return to the blend builder once you have decided which two to use.
Questions about making your own perfume
Is this a perfume-making workshop?
No. When you make your own perfume through this online service, it combines two existing Formula Fragrances scents in one bottle. It does not include a workshop, an appointment or the selection of individual ingredients. You choose the scents, balance and bottle size through the builder.
Is a custom blend the same as layering perfume?
Layering usually means applying two separate fragrances. Here, the two selected scents are measured and combined in one bottle. If you prefer to keep them separate, order the individual products instead.
Can I create a 90/10 blend?
Yes. The balance moves in 10% steps, with a minimum of 10% for either scent. That provides choices from 50/50 through to 90/10 while keeping both selected fragrances in the blend.
Can I ask for advice before ordering?
Yes. Contact Formula Fragrances with the names of the scents you are considering and the type of fragrance you usually enjoy. You can also ask about visiting the Brighton shop at 5 Kensington Gardens in the North Laine.
